CULM — FIBRE INDEX / 03

Fibre guide.

A simple language for understanding what sits between the field and your skin.

We use fibre names precisely. A natural-looking cloth is not automatically a natural fibre, and a hemp-led fabric is not automatically 100% hemp. The garment composition is the final reference.

01

Primary fibre

The fibre that shapes the garment’s character—its hand, surface, drape or structure.

02

Companion fibre

A second fibre may be used to tune softness, strength, movement or construction. We identify it rather than hiding it.

03

Blend

A blend is simply a fabric made from more than one fibre. Percentages matter, so we list them by style.

What should you look for on a product page?

Look for exact composition, fabric construction where available, care instructions and any batch or making information tied to that style. Those details are more useful than broad material claims.

Does “natural” mean every garment behaves the same?

No. Yarn count, weave, finishing, garment wash and construction can change how two fabrics with similar fibre content feel and wear.

How should you choose?

Choose by use. A structured overshirt, fluid shirt and everyday trouser may need different cloth behaviour even when they share a fibre family.
