At CULM, hemp is one of the fibres we return to because of its dry hand, visible texture and ability to develop character through wear. We treat fibre choice as a design decision: it influences feel, drape, longevity and how a garment ages.
What is hemp fabric?
Hemp fabric is made from fibre taken from the hemp plant and transformed into yarn and cloth. The final feel depends on the fibre preparation, spinning, weaving, finishing and any companion fibres used in a blend.
How does hemp feel?
It can feel crisp, dry and textural at first. Different constructions and finishes create different hands, so the product page should always be your reference for the specific garment.
Is every CULM piece 100% hemp?
No assumption should be made from the brand alone. We list the exact fibre composition for each style so you can see what you are actually wearing.
Why does CULM use it?
Because we want clothing where the material remains visible in the final object. We prefer surfaces that feel natural rather than over-finished, and fabrics that can become more personal with repeated wear.
